It's Now Mekapati Turn To Jump The Fence?

The defection of five legislators of the YSR Congress party including an MLC into the ruling Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh has once again exposed the dirty politics of the Telugu States.

Except in a few media channels and newspapers, these defections have not generated any kind of talk among the people, who are already hating these politicians.

Obviously, the defections have a viral effect on the remaining politicians in the Opposition parties. They are of the view that if their colleagues can take a plunge into the ruling party and gain benefits, they too should not lag behind and sooner the defection, the better it is.

The latest talk doing rounds in the YSR Congress party circles is that party MP from Nellore Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy might also shift loyalties to the TDP sooner or later.

Mekapati is said to be terribly upset with Jagan for ignoring him in taking key policy decisions, such as Kapu quota issue.

When Jagan went to New Delhi on Monday, he chose to ignore Mekapati and stayed put in the residence of Y V Subba Reddy.

The Nellore MP was not called for consultations to discuss the future strategies, though he is the Parliamentary Party leader of YSRC.

This has led to speculations that Mekapati might desert the YSRC and join the TDP later. Similarly, names of Jyothula Nehru and a couple of other MLAs are also doing rounds in the media.

Watch out for more developments in these columns.
