Is Your Brother Not Into Business, Mr Pavan?

Union Minister and Rajya Sabha MP Sujana Chowdary on Tuesday strongly reacted to the comments made by actor-turned-Jana Sena Party president Pavan Kalyan that Andhra MPs were silent on the injustice being meted out to the State because they all had business interests.

Sujana said there was no rule in the Constitution that bars the MPs from doing business and earn money.

“Tell me, Mr Pavan Kalyan, is your brother Chiranjeevi not into any business? He is still an MP, right? Is he not going to make money through acting in a forthcoming film?” the Union Minister asked.

He said there was nothing wrong in MPs doing business and earning money through legal means.

“If they indulge in corrupt practices, Pavan has every right to question. We welcome any positive suggestions from him. But he should stop slinging mud at the respected public representatives,” Sujana said.

On Section 8, the Union Minister said there was no need to kick up any controversy on it. The Governor would invoke it, if there was really any such necessity to keep the law and order under control, he said.
