Is Y S Jagan Really Power-Hungry?

Responding to YS Jagan Mohan Reddu's skepticism at the TDP Ministers tendering their resignation to the Union Cabinet, the TDP has once again surprisingly chosen to focus on the illegal assets cases pending against YS Jagan and stated categorically that he is a man hungry for the CM seat. This is indeed a strange argument.

If we were to go back to the election campaigning of 2014, there were two things which were largely instrumental in TDP’s victory: Pawan Kalyan who diverted Kapu votes to TDP and the loan waiver promise by CBN to farmers.

When CBN made the promise, many seniors in Jagan’s camp came to him and said the YSRCP had to offer something similar or risk losing the election.

However, Jagan refused saying the State was not equipped to deal with the financial burden which would accrue from such a promise. In other words, he did not want to make false promises. This cost him the election.

But clearly, it is not the act of a man who wanted to become CM at any cost but rather, it was a mature stand taken in the best interests of the State.

Therefore, calling him power-hungry is a far cry from the truth!
