Is Withholding ZP Elections Correct Babu?

Is Withholding ZP Elections Correct Babu?

The ZP elections in Nellore and Prakasam have been postponed after the widely covered ruckus in Prakasam district.

It has been reported that the TDP workers barged into the ZP office in the district and created trouble which resulted in police resorting to lathi charge. At that time, there were reports that TDP leaders Karanam Balram and Venkatesh were injured during the lathi charge. The ZP members also threw chairs at each other.

Similarly, in Nellore, the TDP supporters and YSRCP supporters clashed with each other, due to which the elections have been postponed here. It has to be noted that ZP elections have been postponed in places where there were chances of YSRCP winning the local body elections.

Political analysts feel this is a direct reflection of Chandra Babu Naidu’s governance and it also shows that the district collectors and the entire police force could not ensure free and fair elections in those districts.

It has to be mentioned here that the ruling party has been initiating defections in the opposition party and this is detrimental to the smooth functioning of a democratic government.

Of course, Congress was known for such tactics, but now the TDP and TRS who had criticized Congress in the past are resorting to the same shameful means to retain absolute power.
