Is Naidu Afraid Of Pawan Kalyan Impact?

The way Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been making strong comments against power star and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan for the last few days indicates that he is very much worried about the possible impact of the actor’s outburst on the poll prospects of the TDP.

All these days, nobody took Pawan Kalyan seriously as he had no clarity as to whether he would take to serious politics or part time politics.

Even his political statements were not taken very seriously, as he had not made any attack on the TDP or the BJP.

But now that Pawan came out strongly against Naidu and his alleged corrupt deeds, it has caused a lot of anxiety in Naidu, say political analysts.

Reason: Naidu knows that his party’s position is very precarious, as he had not been able to deliver goods for the people in the last four years, for various reasons including lack of proper assistance from the Centre.

He also knows that he would have to face a tough contest from the YSR Congress party in the next elections. Any tilt in the scale away from the TDP would mean he will lose power.

Under these circumstances, Pawan’s outburst shattered his morale, as the actor can take the swing the other way.

Though it is believed that Pawan’s entry might result in split in anti-incumbency votes, analysts say it can even tilt the balance towards the YSRC.

If neutral people, who think it is futile to vote for Pawan Kalyan, would vote only for the YSRC as an effective alternative to the TDP.

That is precisely why Naidu is taking Pawan’s comments so seriously and launching an attack on him. He is trying to frame both the YSRC and JSP under the BJP fold, so that he can gain some political mileage, say sources.

Naidu said both Jagan and Pawan Kalyan were shielding the Prime Minister and added that everyone was watching which political party did what.

All the three parties –BJP, YCP and JSP had launched a tirade against the TDP, he said and described Jagan and Pawan Kalyan as coverts of BJP.

“We are only asking the Centre to do good to Andhra Pradesh. We are not at war with it,” he explained.
