How Modi Kept Out His Detractors

What do Murali Manohar Joshi, Shanta Kumar and BC Khanduri have in common? For starters, they are all BJP candidates who won in the recent elections. Apart from that they are all above 75 years of age.

But most importantly, they were all supporters of LK Advani for the Prime Ministerial post and belonged to his camp.

Taking them into the cabinet even though they are seniors would always be a constant worrying issue for Modi. Hence he came up with a master formula that kept them all out.

Modi said that candidates above 75 years of age would not be accommodated in the Union cabinet as they would not be able to do justice to their given responsibilities at that age owing to physical constraints. So, with this one stone, Modi took out four birds including Advani.

Also, Modi who frequently criticized Sonia and Rahul for their dynastic politics took care to see that he did not make the same mistake.

Jayant Sinha, son of Yashwant Sinha, Abhishek, son of Chhattisgarh CM, Raman Singh, Dushyanth, son of Rajasthan CM, Vasundhara Raje and Varun Gandhi, s/o Maneka Gandhi won the elections but were not accommodated in the Union cabinet.
