While the unceremonious sacking of former Andhra Pradesh chief secretary I Y R Krishna Rao from the post of AP Brahmin Welfare Corporation chairman has become a big topic of debate in the media circles, it also raised several doubts over the integrity of the officer.
Nobody would dispute with the issues raised by Krishna Rao in his Facebook postings – whether it is on the arrest of political satirist Inturi Ravi Kiran or exemption of entertainment tax for Gautami Putra Satakarni or extension of timings for Baahubali-2 or appointment of a non-Telugu IAS officer as the chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams.
But when he was appointed by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu in the post of Brahmin corporation chairman, the latter would naturally expect his loyalty to the ruling party. After all, it is a political appointment and not a statutory appointment.
If he does not want to be like a TDP leader, he should have at least maintained a neutral stand and confined himself to his job.
How can he make negative comments against the government or share anti-Naidu hate postings on Facebook, which is on a public domain?
If Krishna Rao wanted to enjoy his freedom of expression, he should have resigned from his post and then attacked Naidu.
Ironically he says when TDP leaders like J C Diwakar Reddy and Kesineni Nani can criticise Naidu, he, too, has a right to write negative posts on Facebook against Naidu.
He also said when Naidu can meet Lagadapati, he, too, has the right to meet YSRC MLA Kona Raghupathi.
This is silly. JC, Nani and Raghupathi are political leaders but not Rao. How can he compare himself with the political leaders?
Being a seasoned civil servant, Rao must be aware of all this. But he seems to have something else in mind. Let us wait and see what his plans are in the coming days.
