How Can A Criminal Be Assembly Secretary?

YSR Congress party on Wednesday demanded that Andhra Pradesh assembly secretary K Satyanarayana be sacked immediately as he does not possess the required qualification to hold the top post, besides having criminal cases pending against him.

YSRC legislator Alla Ramakrishna Reddy told media that Satyanarayana was not even a graduate to become the assembly secretary, which requires graduation in law as the basic qualification.

“For the past two-and-a-half years, I have moved all the avenues to establish that he is not qualified for the post but things were not taken seriously and the government tried to shield him,” Reddy alleged.

He also pointed out that Satyanarayana also has a criminal case pending against him in the Banjara Hills Police Station and such a person cannot continue in office.

“When I have asked for his qualification and applied in the prescribed format under Right To Information (RTI) Act, nothing was forthcoming. It is mandatory to reply within 45 days, including the grace period, but it has been over two years and no information was given by the PIO from 2015 onwards,” he said.

He alleged that Chandrababu Naidu wanted to keep his ‘yes men’ at the helm of affairs, irrespective of their eligibility and only looks at loyalty quotient which is evident from the fact that the Secretary has walked out while the Governor was addressing the Assembly to oversee the oath taking arrangements of Chief Minister’s son Nara Lokesh.
