How About Video Games In Sports Quota?

The comment made by the Hyderabad High Court on providing reservation to students under sports quota even in professional courses like engineering and medicine is believed to be a slap on the face of the governments.

A division bench of the High Court has expressed dissatisfaction over the inclusion of certain sports like Sepak Takraw, hand ball, tennikoit and netball in the list of sports quota in admissions in professional institutions like medical colleges.

“Why don’t you include even video games in this list?” the High Court asked sarcastically.

The court observed that the admissions in medical colleges based on sports quota would do a lot of injustice to meritorious students who want to genuinely pursue the courses.

“Sports persons should focus on sports and other students on studies. If a sports person joins a professional college, he can do justice neither to his sports nor to education,” the bench said, adding that the government should have re-thinking on including sports in the quota list.
