How About Merging T-TDP With TRS?

How About Merging T-TDP With TRS?

It is a known fact that the Telangana Telugu Desam Party is in dire straits. A dozen of its MLAs and its lone MP joined the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi.

Many of its senior leaders also followed the suit and some others, including its firebrand MLA from Kodangal A Revanth Reddy joined the Congress party and a few other lower-rung leaders jumped into the BJP.

Whatever cadre that is left in the party is now a confused lot as to what the fate of the party would be in the next elections.

Under these circumstances, the best suggestion so far has come from the TDP senior leader and former minister Mothkupalli Narasimhulu.

On Thursday, Mothkupalli expressed view that it would be better to merge the Telangana TDP with the TRS so that the cadre would at least get some respect of being in a stronger party.

After paying floral tributes to TDP founder NT Rama Rao at the NTR Ghat on the occasion of his 22nd death anniversary, Mothkupalli made a sensational comment that the Telangana TDP is as good as dead.

“There is no future for the party. The party workers are in a state of confusion but there is none to give them support and moral courage. So, what is the point in running the party? It is better it is merged with the TRS,” he said.

He said the party workers were of the view that the Telangana TDP would soon disintegrate.

“Why can’t we merge the party with the TRS? After all, TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao was also from the TDP. So merger of our cadre with TRS will ensure political future of our workers,” Mothkupalli said.
