The sudden death of Nandyal MLA Bhuma Nagi Reddy was really a shock to many, but it has also become an issue for political mudslinging.Within hours of Bhuma died, there was a rumour in a section of social media attributing his death to Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
It is a known fact that Bhuma, who shifted his loyalties from the YSR Congress party to the TDP, was expecting a cabinet berth in the forthcoming expansion.
And Naidu, too, was more or less decided to take him into the cabinet to strengthen the party in Kurnool district.
However, Bhuma was learnt to be very much disturbed with the latest talk that Naidu has second thoughts in accommodating him in the cabinet as Governor E S L Narasimhan expressed strong reservations to Naidu giving cabinet berths to those who defected from the YSR Congress party on technical and moral grounds.
On Saturday, Bhuma met Naidu along with several ZPTC and MPTC members to discuss the MLC elections.
He reportedly told the chief minister that he was ready to cooperate with MLC candidate Shilpa Chakrapani Reddy in the elections, though the latter was conspiring against him in Kurnool district. At the same time, he asked Naidu to consider his name for the cabinet berth.
At this stage, the TDP president explained the constraints in taking him into the cabinet because of the reservations expressed by the Governor. Naidu apparently told Bhuma that he would give him some other important post.
This disturbed Bhuma a lot. He returned to Allagadda with a frustrated mood and told his party colleagues that he would resign from his MLA post and contest the by-elections again.
“I will win the seat and then demand the cabinet berth. Let me see how Naidu can deny me the post,” he reportedly told his followers.
However, within a couple of hours, Bhuma suffered a heart attack and died within no time.
“He was disturbed by Naidu’s observations and it has led to the heart attack,” the reports doing rounds in a section of media said.
