Four Defectors To Get Berth In Naidu Cabinet?

If the reports coming from the Telugu Desam Party are to be believed, as many as four MLAs who had defected from YSR Congress party into the TDP are likely to be rewarded with the cabinet berths in the forthcoming expansion.

According to these reports, the four MLAs are: Jyothula Nehru from East Godavari, Bhuma Nagi Reddy from Kurnool, Jaleel Khan from Krishna and Amarnath Reddy from Chittoor. Naidu has apparently selected these four because of their strategic political significance in their respective districts.

The TDP did not fare well in Kurnool district in 2014 elections; hence it hopes to consolidate its position in this district by inducting Bhuma into the cabinet. So is the case with Amarnath Reddy in Chittoor, which did not send enough TDP MLAs to the Assembly last time despite being the home district of Naidu.

Jaleel Khan would help the TDP gain hold over minorities though the party is in alliance with the BJP. And Jyothula Nehru who has a reputation among the Kapus of Godavari districts would definitely help Naidu overcome the growing discontent in the community over reservations, say party sources.
