By deciding to continue with the existing 'fee reimbursement' policy in place and putting away for good, his proposed controversial FAST (Financial Assistance to Students of Telangana) scheme, KCR might well have taken the first sensible decision in his tenure.
Of course, he may have opted for this decision as there was no way that FAST would have been approved in a court of law. This means that students who have studied in Telangana for a continuous period of seven years are now eligible for ‘Fee reimbursement’ from the Telangana government, a decision that will benefit Seemandhra students in Telangana.
It took a mammoth seven hour meeting for KCR with his cabinet colleagues to arrive at this decision. AP on the other hand has declared long back that all Telangana students studying in AP would be eligible for fee reimbursement.
The scheme is intended at the students of the weaker communities. And this is the need of the hour, for KCR to arrive at practical and fair decisions instead of resorting to unfair and emotionally driven grandiose schemes.
