Finally, KCR Hints At Early Polls

It is now more or less certain that Telangana state assembly will go to early elections in the month of November or December.

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao gave a hint to this effect on Friday when called upon his party MLAs to be battle-ready.

“Elections might be held any moment. You must be ready for the battle whenever it takes place,” he told the party leaders at the extended executive committee meeting of the party, including party MPs, MLAs and MLCs held at Telangana Bhavan.

During the nearly-hour meeting, before leaving for New Delhi in the evening on a three-day visit, KCR said the TRS was going to win majority of the seats and there was nothing to be worried about the timing of the elections.

“Leave it to me when to make an announcement on the elections. They can be conducted anytime from now. So, be prepared for the battle,” he said.

It is expected that KCR would make an announcement on early polls at the proposed public meeting to be held at Kongara Kalan on the outskirts of Hyderabad on September 2 to present the progress report of the four-year old KCR government. After that, he would go for dissolution of the assembly.

However, a final decision would be taken only after getting the nod from the Centre and the Election Commission of India.

“The tour of the chief minister to New Delhi and his meeting with the Prime Minister is essentially for the same purpose,” a party leader said.
