Finally, Gangster Nayeem Killed In Encounter

Mohammad Nayeemuddin alias Nayeem, who has been giving sleepless nights to the police for over two decades, has finally been killed in a police encounter at Shadnagar in Mahbubnagar district on Monday.

Nayeem, who has been involved in over 100 cases, including 20 murders, was staying in a house at Millennium Colony at Shadnagar apparently to do some land settlements.

The police surrounded it on the suspicion that some terrorists are hiding in the house and on seeing them, Nayeem and his gang fired at the police, who returned the fire. In the exchange of fire, Nayeem died on the spot, while others fled the place.

Nayeem, who belongs to Bhongir town in Nalgonda district, worked in the People’s War Group Naxalites and was responsible for the killing of IPS officer K S Vyas on January 27, 1993.

After he was arrested and let out on bail, he became a gangster. With the help of some bad elements in the police, Nayeem and his gang did a lot of land settlements, real estate dealings, illegal arms supply and extortions.

He was involved in several murders including that of surrendered Maoist Sambasivudu, his brother Ramulu, another ex-Maoist Patlolla Goverdhan Reddy and civil liberties leader Purushottam.
