Film Industry Will Not Shift To Andhra?

Post bifurcation, the question about the film industry shifting base to Andhra Pradesh still remains unanswered. However, in a latest statement, Rajamundry MP Murali Mohan has made it clear that the industry will continue to function from Hyderabad.

Murali Mohan ruled out shifting the base to Vizag any time in near future. He disclosed that the film fraternity will soon bring together Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Chandra Babu Naidu and Telanagana Chief Minister KCR on to a common platform and get a formal announcement made by both the parties on this vital issue.

Meanwhile, there is a section of people in Film Nagar who want to know why the industry cannot relocate to Vizag. They feel that since every other sector has been divided, the same has to be applied to the film industry.

But Murali Mohan argues that it took 20 years for the film industry to shift permanently from Chennai to Hyderabad. Now, if the industry has to shift again, it would be convenient for big producers, directors and artistes. But it would adversely affect the lives of many small-time technicians and artistes who are a part of the industry, he explains.

The next question is will any efforts be made to develop infrastructure for film industry in Vizag while retaining its base in Hyderabad? Not taking a clear decision now could lead to serious employment problems in future, opine some in the industry.
