11 Ministers took oath at the Secretariat in Velagapudi on Sunday. Normally, the oath is administered in the name of God but legislators can also take oath in the name of their conscience.
Of the 11 Ministers who took oath, 8 of them did so in the name of God. The three people who were sworn-in by their conscience were Adinarayana Reddy from Kadapa, Amarnath Reddy from Chittoor and Bhuma Akhila Priya from Kurnool.
That these three people should decide to take oath in the name of their conscience is really amusing. These people had been elected on a YSRCP ticket but switched parties for various reasons. Therefore, conscience is the last thing one would have associated with them.
And administering the oath of office to them was the Governor who is duty-bound to protect the Constitution but turns a blind eye to proceedings and has time only for his spiritual jaunts and Raj Bhavan iftars.
What an irony! What a real irony!
