Fact Sheet: Shame On You Naidu

The Union Government has agreed to release Rs 700 crore for the development of backward areas in Telangana.

It also agreed to release a further Rs 700 crore for development of local bodies and industrial sector apart from clearing the dues of Telangana related to the Central State tax. And that’s not all.

The NITI AAYOG has agreed to support the flagship schemes of the Telangana government ‘Mission Kakatiya’ and ‘Water Grids’ programme. Cumulatively, these programmes would cost around Rs 45000 crore and the Central government will now release funds every year for these schemes.

Clearly, the NDA now wants to maintain good relations with TRS in Telangana as it has probably realized that it does not have the strength to contest on its own in 2019, especially after the GHMC disaster.

But Chandrababu being in an alliance with the NDA is not able to get even a single paisa for AP. For seven highly backward districts of AP, the Centre has in the past sanctioned Rs 350 crore.

And obviously, the 14th Finance Commission which had a problem with AP being accorded special status does not have the same  problem with funds being allotted to Telangana for commission Kakatiya and water grids etc, despite Telangana having surplus budget.

If Naidu has any self-respect, he should immediately call off his party’s alliance with the BJP. That way, he will at least win the respect of the people of AP.
