Fact Sheet: Beware Naidu!

Fact Sheet: Beware Naidu!

KCR was hoping for a cabinet berth when in the TDP. But when Naidu turned him down, he started the TRS and the result is there for all to see.

Hence, Naidu better be wary of Telangana TDP leaders’ requests to be made Governors and Central Ministers, at the Mahanadu.

The demand was initiated by Mothkupalli Narasimhulu, senior party leader from Nalgonda, while he was speaking on the resolution to pay homage to TDP founder NT Rama Rao on the occasion of his birth anniversary.

Turning to Naidu, he said: “Sir, I am a hard worker and honest activist of the party. You had promised me a governor's post. I hope a poor man like me will get such an opportunity with the support of a magnanimous leader like you.”

Narasimhulu recalled that he was the sole Telangana TDP leader to criticize TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao at the height of the Telangana agitation.

“Therefore, we need support and encouragement from you,” he said.

Apparently, Naidu promised the gubernatorial position to Narasimhulu sometime ago. “Since then, Telangana leaders have begun addressing me as governor saab,” he said.

Finally, even as others on the dais were sort of amused by Narasimhulu's open request, the TDP president responded by saying: “If you become governor, we will lose a good speaker.”

Next, it was the turn of Errabelli Dayakar Rao, another senior leader from Warangal, to make public his request for a central post, albeit indirectly.

“Telangana TDP leaders deserve berths in the Union cabinet. I hope the TDP gets another ministerial berth in the next cabinet expansion of the Narendra Modi government. I sincerely request the TDP leaders from Andhra Pradesh not to compete with us on this issue,” said Errabelli.

This seems to be a rather wise ploy by the T-TDP members. By making public, Naidu’s promises to them, they are forcing Naidu to keep his word failing which they will not be blamed for jumping ship.
