A farmer from Guntur district has filed a petition in the High Court challenging the land pooling exercise.
The farmer claimed that there was absolutely no clarity about the whole process and requested that he not be dispossessed of his land until the validity of the land pooling exercise was established.
Now, there are already cases filed against the government over the land pooling exercise, but this latest one is of particular significance because this farmer had already given his consent letter to the government.
If the judiciary finds merit in his arguments and orders the government to return the man’s land, it could easily result in a flood of such petitions from farmers who have already given their consent to the land pooling process.
If that happens, Naidu will be back at square one. Surely, he can’t afford that, can he? He has a responsibility to his community that he should strive to fulfill at all costs.
