Except 3, all Cong ministers lost polls!

Barring three ministers, all the members of the Kiran Kumar Reddy cabinet lost in the elections, thanks to the TDP surge in Seemandhra and TRS wave in Telangana.

The political careers of almost all top leaders of the Congress party were washed away under the impact of these two parties. Only K Jana Reddy, N Uttam Kumar Reddy and J Geetha Reddy managed to win their seats with slender margins.

Prominent among those who lost the elections including Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Ponnala Lakshmaiah, former PCC chief D Srinivas, Rajya Sabha MP V Hanumantha Rao, former Deputy CM Damodar Rajanarasimha, former ministers D Nagender, M Mukesh Goud, Mohammad Ali Shabbir, Sunitha Lakshma Reddy and others.

While Ponnala had lost from Janagaon Assembly seat in Warangal, D Srinivas lost from Nizamabad Rural. Interestingly, most of the Congress candidates who lost elections were among the top contenders for the Chief Minister's post.

NDMA Vice-chairman Marri Shashidhar Reddy had lost to TDP candidate Talasani Srinivas Yadav in Sanath Nagar constituency. Former minister Basvaraju Saraiah has lost to Konda Surekha form Warangal East by a huge margin of over 40,000 votes.
