Ex-Naidu Loyalist To Return To YSRC?

Former MLC from East Godavari district Boddu Bhaskara Rama Rao, who was once considered to be a close loyalist of Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, is said to be toying with the idea of returning to the YSR Congress party fold.

According to party sources, Bhaskara Rama Rao has not been getting along well with the TDP leaders in the district especially in Peddapuram constituency, which is presently represented by deputy chief minister Nimmakayala Chinna Rajappa.

The constituency was earlier represented by Bhaskara Rama Rao and he is now trying to regain his hold there in 2019 elections.

This has angered Chinna Rajappa. In an interview to a Telugu television channel the other day, he described Bhaskara Rama Rao as his enemy and also made some derogatory comments against the latter and former minister late Metla Satyanarayana. This led to the clashes between the two groups of Bhaskara Rama Rao and Rajappa.

On Sunday, Bhaskara Rama Rao wrote a strongly worded letter to Chinna Rajappa for stooping so low as to make derogatory comments against him and Metla.

“I am always close to my constituency people and nobody can isolate me from them. Since you called me an enemy, I will also treat you as my enemy,” he said.

Indications are that Bhaskara Rama Rao is likely to join the YSR Congress party and contest against Chinna Rajappa in 2019 from Peddapuram.

In fact, he had been with the TDP for over two and a half decades and was made the deputy chairman of state planning board during Naidu’s earlier stint as chief minister of combined AP.

But in March 2013, Bhaskara Rama Rao quit the party and joined the YSRC to get elected as MLC for local bodies of East Godavari district.

After the TDP came to power in May 2014, Rao re-joined the TDP hoping to get back his glory.
