Early Polls In Telangana A Worry For Naidu?

Early Polls In Telangana A Worry For Naidu?

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is eager in conducting early elections to the state assembly, but his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu is not interested and wants to continue in power till the completion of his full term.

But, at the back of his mind, Naidu is said to be worried about the possible impact of early elections in Telangana on the prospects of the Telugu Desam Party in Andhra.

In Telangana, the TDP is most likely to enter into an alliance with the Congress party for the ensuing elections and if the Congress party comes to power, there may not be much worry as Naidu could boldly go with the Congress in AP, too.

But the problem is if the TRS returns to power, defeating the Congress-TDP combine. Naidu will lose his face and the people of Andhra might turn hostile towards the TDP. And that would ultimately benefit the YSR Congress party.

Even if Naidu does not have the alliance with the Congress in AP, he would have to explain to the people of Andhra during the Andhra elections held in April/May as to why he had gone with the Congress in Telangana.

So, the TDP might not have an alliance with Congress in Telangana, if the elections are advanced. May be, it will have a secret understanding with the Congress in the areas where it is strong.

Let us watch out what stand the TDP would take if Telangana goes to early polls!
