Early Elections In Andhra? No Chance!

Telugu Desam Party general secretary and Andhra Pradesh IT minister Nara Lokesh rubbished the reports that appeared in a section of media that the Chandrababu Naidu government would also dissolve the state assembly and go in for the conduct of early elections in the state.

“We are not in a hurry to go to elections. We have a lot to do for the people which we will complete in our tenure. The elections to the state assembly would be held as per the schedule,” Lokesh said.

He reiterated that the TDP government would complete the five year full term.

“I am surprised and saddened at the way the Telangana state assembly was dissolved nine months before the completion of the term. We are not going to do it,” he said.

A popular news channel – Republic TV – came out with a political scoop that Chandrababu Naidu, too, could dissolve the Andhra Pradesh assembly in a week’s time as he wanted the state elections to be clubbed with polls in Telangana.

Quoting sources, the TV channel said if AP assembly is dissolved, it would also go to polls along with Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram and Telangana.

On September 6, Telangana caretaker Chief Minister KCR dissolved the state's assembly and tendered his resignation to the Governor.

Following the dissolution of the assembly, KCR was appointed as the caretaker CM of the state.
