Don't Walk On My Roads, If You Don't Like My Rule!

Don't Walk On My Roads, If You Don't Like My Rule!

In a democracy, any government is expected to serve all sections of people, irrespective whether some of them do not vote for the ruling party.

It cannot take up developmental works only in those areas where the ruling party has got the people’s mandate.

But Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu thinks otherwise.

His argument is why the government should take up welfare and developmental programmes for the people in those villages, which do not vote for the TDP.

“You enjoy the pensions given by me; and walk on the roads laid by me. But you don’t want to vote for me. How is it justified? If you don’t like my government, don’t take the pensions given by my government and don’t walk on the roads,” Naidu said at a party workers’ meeting held at Nandyal in Kurnool district on Thursday.

He said some political leaders were trying to lure the voters by distributing their ill-gotten money among the voters.

“My government had enhanced pension for old people, weaker sections and disabled people from Rs 200 to Rs 1,000 a month. Why do you still crave for Rs 500 or Rs 1,000 given by the corrupt politicians and vote for their party? How does such small amount change your fortune?” he asked.

Naidu said he, too, has the capacity to pay Rs 2,000 or even Rs 5,000 per vote to the people.

“If I start buying votes, I, too, would have to resort to corrupt practices to recover the expenditure in elections. But I will not indulge in such corrupt politics,” he said.

The TDP president asked his party functionaries to demand votes from the people based on his government’s performance.

“If they don’t vote for us, ask the people why they don’t vote for us, even after getting so many benefits from us. I will not hesitate to ignore such villages which do not vote for us,” Naidu said.
