Disgruntled TRS leaders eye Cong tickets!

Disgruntled TRS leaders eye Cong tickets!

With Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao declaring the first list of 105 candidates for the ensuing assembly elections, disgruntled ticket aspirants are looking up to the Congress party as the only alternative.

Initially, some of the serious contenders thought they would prevail upon KCR to make some changes in the list and tried to influence him through his son K T Rama Rao, but the TRS chief is very adamant and refusing to make any changes.

On Friday, former minister and senior TRS leader G Gurunath Reddy from Kodangal came to the Congress Legislature Party office and met some old colleagues.

He was aspiring for the TRS ticket from Kodangal to fight against A Revanth Reddy, his arch rival in the past.

But KCR denied him the ticket and fielded Narender Reddy against Revanth. As a result, the old man has no choice but to come back to the Congress party. He is now trying for the Congress ticket at least from Tandur.

In Nizamabad, TRS MLC Bhupathi Reddy joined Congress party on Friday. He met Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi and announced that he would join the party as he was fed up with TRS party proceedings.

He also said that the party has neglected the leaders who played a key role during the Telangana movement.

Reddy said he was willing to contest from Nizamabad rural constituency against the TRS MLA Baju Reddy Govardhan.

"Reddy has been serving as Nizamabad MLA from 10 years because of my sacrifice," he added.

Former minister Konda Surekha is also eyeing the Congress ticket from Warangal East again, as she is all set to say good-bye to the TRS.
