Differences In T-Cong Over Revanth Entry

The proposed defection of Telangana Telugu Desam Party working president and Kodangal MLA A Revanth Reddy into the Congress party has created tremors not only in the TDP but also in the Congress party.

Though the general opinion is that Revanth’s entry would strengthen the Congress party, several party leaders are also apprehensive that he would only become a nuisance factor for the party.

The Telangana Congress party is virtually divided into two groups over the entry of Revanth.

Former Sangareddy MLA Turpu Jayaprakash Reddy expressed view that Revanth’s entry would rejuvenate the party and bring the entire Reddy community under one umbrella.

He said the party needed young blood like Revanth, who can take on the Telangana Rashtra Samithi head on.

Former minister from Karim Nagar Duddilla Sridhar Babu also welcomed Revanth’s entry into the party and said it would give new lease of life for the party.

Another former minister and Gadwal MLA D K Aruna, who was apprehensive about Revanth initially said she had no objection if he joins the Congress.

However, there are some top leaders who fear that Revanth might dominate them in the party and stake claim for the CM post.

While TPCC president Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy has preferred not to comment on the development, another senior like K Jana Reddy is not happy with the high command inviting Revanth into the party.

Similarly, Komatireddy brothers – Venkat Reddy and Rajagopal Reddy who are aiming for the CM post, former PCC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah and others are not very keen to see Revanth in the party, say sources.
