Cyberwada is not tasty, Mr Naidu!

The decision of Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu to name the Information Technology Zone between Vijayawada and Guntur as “Cyberwada” has not gone down well with the people.

Naidu on Friday announced that he would create a cyber city in Amaravati capital region located between Vijayawada and Guntur and develop it on the lines of Silicon Valley, as he had done with Cyberabad, which has now become a third city between Secunderabad and Hyderabad. He boasted that he would bring all top IT companies of the world to this cyber city.

Well, the plan is good, but the name he has given to this IT park, Cyberwada, is not very attractive and sounds as it if it is some street name. Perhaps, he has chosen the name because it is nearer to Vijayawada. At the same time, he cannot call it even “Cybervati,” which sounds feminine.

It would have been better had it been called just a “Cyber City” which is more attractive even to the foreign IT companies, say some observers.
