Cong Putting Up Brave Front

Cong Putting Up Brave Front

Despite knowing that writing on the wall is clear about their debacle in the forthcoming elections, the Congress leaders are trying to put up a brave front on their victory prospects.

Former PCC President D Srinivas on Wednesday expressed confidence that the Congress would come to power in both Telangana and Seemandhra regions and both the Congress Chief Ministers would take oath on Appointed Day on June 2.

Srinivas said that the elections in undivided Andhra Pradesh would be contested under the direct supervision of AICC President Sonia Gandhi. He claimed that the Congress party would win at least 80 Assembly and 16 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana.

Reacting to the decision of TRS President K Chandrasekhar Rao's statement that his party would not merge with the Congress, Srinivas said that the Congress party never approached the TRS proposing merger.

He said it was KCR who offered to merge his party with Congress after the passing of Telangana Bill in the Parliament. It also constituted a committee led by senior leader K Keshava Rao to study the possibilities. After the passing of Telangana Bill, again it was KCR who announced that he would not merge his party.

He said that the Congress party neither requested KCR for the merger, nor pressurising him for the same.

He said that the State Congress leaders would abide by the decision to be taken by the party High Command on alliances.

He said that the Congress party would welcome if the Telangana Joint Action Committee leaders decide to contest elections.
