The arrest of former Congress MP Siricilla Rajaiah in connection with the suspicious death of his daughter-in-law along with her three children, seems to have come as a blessing in disguise for the Bharatiya Janata Party-Telugu Desam Party combine in the by-elections to Warangal Lok Sabha seat.
According to political observers, the Congress party which had better prospects of wining the Warangal seat, lost its credibility completely after the Rajaiah episode.
The Warangal voters are agitated as to why the Congress high command had given party ticket to Rajaiah ignoring the repeated requests of his daughter-in-law Sarika.
Though the Congress had changed its candidate in the eleventh hour by fielding Sarvey Satyanarayana, the damage was already done to the party and there are no takers for Sarvey now.
The voters are now said to be looking towards BJP candidate who is non-controversial and educated person.
Though the TRS has fair chances in the elections, the TDP-BJP combine is now hopeful that the Congress vote bank will now split and tilt towards the BJP candidate, thereby increasing his chances of winning, say sources.
