Cong Declared 5 Lakh Cr Package For AP?

Did the Congress party, while dividing the erstwhile integrated Andhra Pradesh, declare a package of Rs 5 lakh crore to the residuary state after bifurcation?

Well, that is what AP Congress Committee president N Raghuveera Reddy says.

“How can TDP president and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu say that the UPA government had divided AP indiscriminately? During the debate on the AP Reorganisation Bill, the then UPA government announce several projects including establishment of higher educational institutions, special category status, creation of special railway zone etc; all costing Rs 5 lakh crore. Now, these BJP and TDP fellows could not bring even Rs 5,000 crore worth of investments,” he said.

Raghuveera said there was no merit in the argument of the Centre that there was no mention of special category status in the APRA. It was not followed in the case of other States when they were given special status.

“The TDP and the BJP are hoodwinking the people by taking lame excuses,” he said.
