Changes In AP Bifurcation Act Soon!

Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs M Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday announced that the Central Govenment would soon bring necessary amendments into the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014.

Addressing a press conference here, the Union Minister said that there were several clauses in the Act that needs to be amended on immediate basis. Else, the provisions will create problems for both the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

He alleged that the Act was drafted and passed by the then UPA Government in a haste, he said that the BJP too supported the move to ensure early formation of Telangana. However, he said that the present BJP-led NDA Government would bring required amendments in the Act.

The Union Minister said that the Chief Ministers - K Chandrashekar Rao (Telangana) and N Chandrababu Naidu (Andhra Pradesh) and other elected representatives would be consulted before making amendments in the Act.

Venkaiah Naidu also appreciated the TRS Government for showing inclination to maintain friendly relationship with the Centre.

He also dismissed reports that the Centre was being influenced to stop development in Telangana.

He said that the Centre would equally support all the States irrespective of party-in-power. However, he said that the BJP Government to try to play in softening the differences between the TDP and TRS.
