Chakrapani, Too, To Join Jagan Party?

Telugu Desam Party MLC and senior leader Shilpa Chakrapani Reddy, too, has decided to quit the party and join YSR Congress party, following the footsteps of his brother Shilpa Mohan Reddy, reports coming from Nandyal have indicated.

On Monday, Shilpa Mohan Reddy met his brother Chakrapani and sought the latter’s support to him in the forthcoming by-elections to Nandyal assembly seat, which had fallen vacant due to sudden death of sitting MLA Bhuma Nagi Reddy.

While TDP district unit president Somisetty Venkateshwarlu said it was just a family meeting in which the younger brother sought the blessings of elder one, sources said Mohan Reddy had met Chakrapani only to finalise the deal for the latter’s entry into the YSRC.

In all probability, Chakrapani would join the YSRC at Nandyal in the presence of party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on August 3, when he kick-starts the election campaign.

When media persons questioned him about his possible defection, Chakrapani did not deny it and only said whatever decision he would take, he would definitely tell media well in advance.

Some time ago, Mohan Reddy who was also in the TDP resigned from the party after he was denied the TDP ticket for the by party president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

Within a couple of days, he joined the YSRC and got the ticket for Nandyal bypoll. Though Chakrapani said he would stay back in the TDP, he is also said to be feeling uncomfortable in the party after that.

Finally, he has also decided to quit the TDP to join the YSRC, sources said.
