Bonanza For TRS In Rajya Sabha!

Bonanza For TRS In Rajya Sabha!

It will be a big bonanza for the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi in Rajya Sabha in the next three months.

Thanks to the defection of 26 MLAs from various parties in the last three years, the TRS would be able to bag all the three Rajya Sabha seats, elections for which would be held in April this year. The notification will be issued in March.

In fact, only two RS seats are supposed to go for elections in Telangana, but with the demise of Congress member Palwai Goverdhan Reddy, there would be by-elections to his seat.

The other two seats which would fall vacant are that of the Congress (Rapolu Ananda Bhaskar) and the Telugu Desam Party (C M Ramesh).

Since the Congress and the TDP do not have enough strength, as majority of their MLAs have defected to the TRS, all the three seats will go to the TRS, whose strength in the Rajya Sabha would go up to six. Naturally, the importance of the TRS would increase in Parliament.

With that the Congress would be left with just one MP seat – that of K V P Ramachandra Rao.

As of now, there is not much competition in the TRS for the Rajya Sabha seat and whoever party president K Chandrasekhar Rao decides will get the nomination.

At present, the name of his nephew Boyinapalli Santosh Kumar is being heard in the TRS circles.

There is also a talk that Rapolu Ananda Bhaskhar might join the TRS, provided he is assured of another term in the Rajya Sabha.

And KCR has promised one RS seat for Yadavas or Kurumas and it remains to be seen who the lucky person would be.
