Bifurcation only After Elections

The Centre has decided that it will finalise an appropriate day to formally separate the state only after it looks into various loopholes in the bifurcation process.

On Saturday, President Pranab Mukherjee gave his approval for Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill which was the final step towards the formation of a separate Telangana state.

The Bill was approved by both houses of the Parliament during the winter session and it will become an Act once the Central government issues a notification in The Gazette of India.

So, in all likelihood, the Lok Sabha elections will be held for the united state.

Now that the T Bill has been ratified, top ranking officials say that notifications will be issued for holding elections in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. But the actual bifurcation will happen only after the election process is complete.
