After the sacking of Ponnala, it could be the turn of Jana Reddy to face the axe. Jana was one of the contenders for the post of Telangana PCC President, but Uttam Kumar Reddy beat him to it and Jana had to be content with the status of leader of opposition in the Assembly.
However, the entire Congress Party in Telangana is more or less said to be displeased with Jana’s behavior in the Assembly.
He had forced young Congress MLA Sampath Kumar to apologize to the House for showing disrespect to the national anthem. As Sampath tried to clarify his stand to Jana, the latter shut him up and ordered him to apologize. Not wishing to get in the bad books of a senior, the young MLA obliged. But this act has angered the Congress leaders including Uttam Kumar Reddy and Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.
“As a senior leader and legislature party leader, he should corner the treasury benches, not make our own people apologize,” said one MLA.
The soft approach of Jana towards the TRS has not earned the Congress any mileage and fresh representations are now being made to the ‘High Command’ to have him replaced.
