Behind The Scene: Games 'Media' Plays

Can the media make or break a government? Maybe yes, maybe not! Arvind Kejriwal is a classic case study.

When he launched his ‘Aam Aadmi Party’, he received front-page coverage by all the leading media which was instrumental in catapulting him into public imagination. However, once he became CM, the same Media was responsible for bringing out all his shortcomings in front of the public with a magnified glass forcing Kejriwal to run away after just 49 days in office.

This time around, Kejriwal says that he is a changed man and is asking for another opportunity. Once again, the media is supporting him completely with a certain ‘opinion poll’, belonging to a media house predicting that Kejriwal will emerge winner.

Gone are the days of objective reporting. These days, the media has turned into power brokers, manipulating public opinion in return for material benefits.
