After TRS, Cong too plans big public meeting!

While Telangana Rashtra Samithi government headed by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is making all efforts to organise the “mother of all public meetings,” at Kongara Kalan on September 2 to present the progress report of its four-year rule, the Congress party also wants to put up a big show of strength in the last week of September.

A decision to this effect was taken at the meeting of senior party leaders, MLAs, MLCs and PCC and DCC office-bearers held at Gandhi Bhavan on Tuesday.

“We are also getting ready to host a massive public meeting in Hyderabad. We are planning to invite UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi for the meeting,” Telangana PCC president Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy said.

However, it all depends on the announcement of early elections to the assembly and dissolution of the House.

“We are ready for the elections whenever they are held. The Congress party can comfortably win over 75 seats in next elections which is clearly evident in all the surveys done by the TPCC and also AICC,” he said.

He said that the Congress party would chalk out its strategy for next election in the next few days. Wider consultations were being held with leaders and other stake holders on manifesto.

He said a few major promises like crop loan waiver up to Rs. 2 lakh, doubling the Aasra Pension amount and Rs. 3,000 monthly allowance to jobless youth have already been announced.

Uttam said a committee would be constituted next month to shortlist the candidates for next Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

He said candidates would be selected on the basis of winnability and also the social justice. It was also decided to send an open letter to citizens of Telangana on the failures of TRS Government and also to caution them against the tactics used by KCR to cheat various communities and groups.

He said the decision on next phase of Praja Chaitanya Bus Yatra and also the alliance with other parties would be finalised once the clarity comes on early polls which is likely to happen after TRS public meeting on September 2.
