Reading people's pulse, says Ambati Rayudu

Popular Indian cricket Ambati Rayudu, who declared his intention to enter Andhra Pradesh politics, has not yet decided which party he should join and what exactly he wants to do in politics.

The 37-year-old cricketer told reporters at Mutluru village of Vatticherukuru mandal in Guntur district, said he was at present touring different parts of the district to read people’s pulse.

“I want to know what the people are thinking and what their problems are at the grassroots level. Only then can I decide on what platform I should choose to enter politics. But it is certain that I am going to take to active politics in Andhra Pradesh,” he said.

Rayudu said he also wanted to know the needs of the people and what he could do to fulfil them.

“I shall come out with a concrete action plan soon on how to go about in politics,” he said.

He denied the speculations that he was contemplating contesting the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from either Guntur or Machilipatnam parliamentary constituency.

On his meetings with YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, Rayudu said the meetings had nothing to do with politics.

“Yes, I met him, but had not discussed politics with him,” he said.

However, his tweets have clearly indicated that he might join the YSRC. He had earlier said everyone in the state has complete belief in Jagan. He also said the state government is developing a robust programme for the youth of our state.

He also took a dig at Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu saying construction of a building for an Information Technology company somewhere did not amount to real development.
