Nimmagadda To Recommend Prez Rule In AP?

If the reports appearing in a section of media are to be believed, Andhra Pradesh state election commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar is likely to recommend to the Supreme Court for imposition of President’s Rule in the state on the pretext of a Constitutional crisis.

According to these reports, Nimmagadda is expected to submit an affidavit in the Supreme Court on Monday, before the latter takes up the special leave petition of the Jagan government seeking to stall the process of local body elections.

In his affidavit, the SEC is planning to point out how the state government has been refusing to cooperate with him. Not only that it has been instigating all the government employees and other officials to boycott the election process.

“Before filing an affidavit in the Supreme Court, he would first meet the Governor once again and seek his intervention. He would take it to the notice of the court that if the state government refuses to cooperate with him, it would lead to a Constitutional crisis,” an analyst said.

On Saturday, chief secretary Adiyanath Das, direct general of police Gautam Sawang, panchayat raj principal secretary Gopala Krishna Dwivedi and panchayat raj commissioner Girija Shankar and others boycotted the video conference held by the SEC to discuss the preparedness for the gram panchayat elections, notification for which was released in the morning.

Even all the district collectors, superintendents of police, district panchayat officers and other field-level officials also boycotted the video conference that was scheduled to start at 3 pm.
