Bitter Truth: A New Update In Democratic Journalism

There are many pages dedicated to photos and stories in Sakshi when Sharmila undertook a padayatra. Now, her son's engagement doesn't qualify as significant news for Sakshi.

Had there been a good relationship between the brother and sister, there would be half-page stories published in Sakshi daily.

At the same time, the event wouldn't be news for Eenadu and Andhra Jyothy. However, since the relationship between the brother and sister is not good, the engagement event is not big news for Sakshi but is important for Eenadu and Andhra Jyothy.

Since Jagan attended the event, there is at least small coverage; otherwise, the news would have been completely ignored by Sakshi.

All newspapers claim to uphold journalistic standards, but everyone has an agenda or interest.

Since there are videos, the reporting is limited to news. Otherwise, there would have been many gossips and cock-and-bull stories surrounding the event.

The Sakshi video reveals Jagan greeting everyone and blessing the bride and groom, spending no more than a minute on stage, a common practice to allow other guests their turn.

Staying longer would pose security concerns for a VIP like Jagan. Despite the common-sense aspect, some YouTube channels make more nonsense than mainstream media engaging in negative programs, which is disheartening.

In reality, two of the most popular Telugu dailies have declined in their standards. With the advent of social media, things are getting exposed to people with clarity. Otherwise, the two dailies would have made every fiction as news to make people believe in it.

Freshly, with the erection of the Ambedkar Statue in Vijayawada, the same media is spitting venom to de-glorify the fame that Jagan Mohan Reddy is garnering from the majority of voters.

One of the dailies ran a story with the title "Darsanikudu divyasmruthiki daruna avamanamidi!" by mentioning 10 points why Jagan has no right to erect the Ambedkar statue!

But with such write-ups, there would be more antipathy developed towards TDP and its allied media than anything else.

Writing something against the physically appearing tallest statue of Ambedkar would boomerang so badly, which they should know.

However, journalism, like any business, is driven by profit for journalists and loss for the people, offering a bitter updated version of democracy.
