Within a year gap, Naga Shourya has made his presence felt in Tollywood with movies like 'Chandamama Kathalu', Oohalu Gusa Gusalade, and 'Dikkulu Choodaku Ramayya'. To get mass image, he has tried his hand at action genre with ‘Jadoogadu’. Does he succeed? Let’s find out…

Story:
Dreaming of becoming Crorepati to lead a  luxurious life, a villager Krishna (Naga Shourya) lands in Hyderabad and starts residing with his friend (Srinivas Reddy) who happens to be a security guard. Krishna has no talent other than duping people and ends up becoming loan recovering agent.

One act by Krishna impresses a local don Srisailam (Zakir Hussain) who handles benami activities of a central minister (Kota Srinivasa Rao). Krishna soon becomes key member in Srisailam’s gang that makes senior member Guntur Seenu (Ajay) jealous.

Bewitched by the charms of Malayalee nurse (Sonarika), he start following her, flirting with her and in no time wins her heart. As everything seems going smooth for him, situation changes with Guntur Seen hatches a game plan to make Krishna a bakra. What happens next?

Artistes’ Performances:
The role that Naga Shourya played requires a rough and tough veneer but the actor’s good looks have played spoilsport. He is at home when flirting with the heroine but has limitations in portraying the action mood.

With bubbly looks, right oomph, Sonarika definitely raises the heart beat of men. Her glamour quotient has lightened up the mood.

Comedian Srinivas Reddy in a bantering tone generates good laughs. His ‘Dhana Lakhmi aunty’ dialogues are funny. Ajay and Zakir Hussain have made their presence felt. Like always, Kota Srinivas Rao is effective as a wily political leader.

Technical Excellence:
Music director Manisharma’s son Sagar Mahati debuts with his musical score for this film. He has shown his talent in background score. Songs lack the humming value.

Cinematography, editing, production values and other technical aspects can be termed decent.

Highlights:

  • Breezy early episodes

Drawbacks:

  • Second half
  • Predictable sequences

Analysis:
Director Yogesh presents the movie interestingly with establishment of hero and his goal. The first act of the screenplay is rightly placed.

Lacing the narration with the right mix of comedy by Srinivas Reddy and Prudhvi and romantic track between the lead pair, ‘Jadoogadu’ almost seemed going smoothly to entertain us. But once the basic storyline is found, the screenplay shows the potholes along the way.

Other than some good parts here and there, the second half of the movie has many problems to deal with. Unnecessary scenes and tracks keep coming in and Satpagiri’s comedy portion with vulgarity plays dampener.

Some dialogues by writer Madhu Sudhan are funny and effective. Creation of scenes where in goons are asked to go for sleep mode by their boss to avoid attention of the police is clever writing.

Having said that, too many loopholes and predictability of the narration doesn’t help much.

Bottomline: No Jadoo
