Sundeep Kishan has not delivered a hit in the recent past. So when he teamed up with Nithya Menon for "Okka Ammayi Tappa", focus shifted on this film.

The trailers also perked up some interest. So is this movie as interesting as the quirky title it offers? Let's find out.

Story:
Krishna Vachan (Sundeep Kishan) loves Mango (Nithya Menon) since his school days and still is not able to forget her. While he was looking for her all these years, he meets a girl on a busy Hitech City flyover when traffic jams. She turns out to be his mango.

The traffic jam was due to a major accident on the flyover and the accident was planned by Anwar Bhai (Ravi Kishan) to kill the people and blast the flyover. Sitting in a far-away building he traces mobile of Krishna Vachan and demands him to act as he says over the call, or he would shoot Mango from his remote place. Then game begins.

Artistes’ Performances:
Sundeep Kishan is plain okay. This is silliest role Nithya Menon has done in her career. Ravi Kishan as villain is good.

Prudhvi, Ali, Tagugothu Ramesh and other comedians evoke one or two laughs. Rest of the cast that include Rohini, Ajay, Brahmaji and Tanikella have done adequate job.

Technical Excellence:
The film completely happens on a fly-over. Chota K Naidu's cinematography, the artwork and CGI team have done great job. Music hardly has any impact. Editing is not good.

Highlights:

Some portions in the second half

Drawback:

Plotline with full of holes
No logic
Boring first half
Silly comedy track on Ali and others

Analysis:
Director Rajasimha has made a clumsy movie out of a flimsy idea. The idea is: what happens if someone controls you over the mobile phone and asks you to help him in evil plan when you are stuck in a major traffic jam. This idea might seem interesting on paper, it invariably has many loopholes and logic goes for a toss.

The idea that a guy controls the hero over phone and that if he doesn't listen his girlfriend will be killed with a sniper rifle is direct copy of Hollywood movie "Phone Booth" (2002).

But director Rajasimha has used entire first half about hero Sundeep Kishan's childhood, and his wooing of Nithya Menon in a traffic jam and inserted silly comedy track. Only at the interval bang it is revealed that the movie is going on "Phone Booth" format.

The thrill in "Phone Booth" is neither the hero of the movie, nor the audiences know who the guy who is controlling him till the end. Also the hero was trapped in a phone booth. Where as here, the hero is not trapped. Also we know the villain and his motive. So there is no thrill.

Although the second half is relatively better than the first half, the movie doesn't hold interest. To be fair, some scenes in the second half are good. But in totality the film is a big bore. Even for a just two-hour plus length of the story, the movie looks like lengthy as the screenplay by Rajasimha is bad.

There is no seriousness in the theme. All in all, "Okka Ammayi Tappa" is badly made movie based on a idea from an Hollywood hit.

Bottom-line: Botched Up Idea
