Telugu market has become hard for Tamil stars to crack in the recent times.
Few years ago, Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Suriya, Karthi, Vikram and other leading Kollywood stars were considered bigger stars than some of our Telugu top stars. Telugu producers too used to fight for buying their rights.
The scene has changed in the last three years. Today, even middle-range Tollywood heroes are not fearing whenever a big Tamil dubbed movie hits the screens.
Dubbed movies of Kollywood have no takers now. Even stars like Suriya and Rajinikanth, who have great fan following in AP and Telangana, are finding hard to get producers for their movies.
The only two big hits in the recent times are “Bicchagadu” and “Raghavan B.Tech”. No other star delivered such hits in the last couple of years.
Rajinikanth’s last movie “Kabaali” too was huge a disaster. Given this situation, Rajinikanth’s “Kaala”, which is touted to be part two of “Kabaali” as Rajinikanth plays mafia don in this film too, is struggling to get right price from the Telugu producers.
Producer Dhanush is looking for right buyers.
