There cannot be more controversial movie than Padmaavat in recent times. The film has stirred up a huge controversy ever since director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has announced it.
Rajput community was against the making of the film as they suspected that Bhansali is portraying Rani Padmini in a derogatory way.
Casting Deepika Padukone as Padmini and Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji is the reason for the suspicion that led to many bizarre incidents and protests.
Bhansali was attacked by a mob while he was filming Padmaavat and later the sets eructed were destroyed by another group. The film’s release had to be postponed from Dec 1 because of the elections in Gujarat.
Finally after changing the title from Padmavati to Padmaavat, after imposing three hundred censor cuts and using CGI to cover up Deepika’s midriff, the film is finally out in theaters today.
The film is set for a thumping opening thanks to the controversies surrounding it. Positive reviews are pouring in already as critics are going gaga over Bhansali’s grand vision and Ranveer Singh’s terrific portrayal of Khilji.
Padmaavat is releasing today all over India in multiple languages. Although there isn’t much buzz for the regional language versions, it is set for a record breaking start in B town for sure.
Films like Pad Man and Aiyaary also have been pushed to some other date to give the much needed space for the controversial movie of the decade.
