India is a country where pollution often runs unchecked owing to lax laws and there not being enough measures in place to counter it.
Every year, the air quality drops to severely hazardous in major cities like Delhi, and Bangalore's Bellandur lake, infamous for its water pollution, continues to froth up at regular intervals.
To raise awareness about this water pollution, South-Indian actress Rashmika Mandanna did an underwater photoshoot in Bellandur lake to raise awareness about water pollution.
The shoot was directed by Sanmathi D. Prasad. The actress took to Twitter to explain how she had no idea about the pollution, until she actually visited the lake, and then saw the gravity of the situation.

Well wasn't aware of this till we had to actually go and shoot this in Bellandur lake..which like really broke my heart, and imagine few years down the line..it’s the same case everywhere else..😱 I’d rather not want to be in that space.. I just wanted to share 🤷— Rashmika Mandanna (@iamRashmika) December 13, 2018
She appealed to her followers that perhaps this situation could be reversed. The entire photoshoot was supposed to be to raise awareness about the situation in this lake - which has a history of being in the news for its pollution.
Toxic froth routinely forms on the lake, and in recent times, the lake even caught fire. There have also been stories on just how much the lake has deteriorated through the years.
