Murali Kishor Abburu’s rural drama Lenin, starring Akhil Akkineni and Bhagyashri Borse, hit theatres on July 10 and showed a decent jump at the box office on its second day.
The film collected ₹8.15 crore net in India on Day 2 from 2,099 shows. This marked a 14% increase over its Day 1 net collection of ₹7.15 crore.
With this, Lenin has earned ₹15.30 crore net and ₹17.60 crore gross in India in two days.
The film also performed steadily in overseas markets. It collected ₹2.50 crore gross on Day 2, taking its total overseas collection to ₹5.80 crore.
Its worldwide gross now stands at ₹23.40 crore.
Directed by Murali Kishor Abburu, Lenin is produced by Akkineni Nagarjuna under Annapurna Studios and Naga Vamsi under Sithara Entertainments.
Set in a fictional village in Chittoor, the film follows an orphan raised by the village head. What begins as a simple love story gradually turns into a larger rural drama inspired by Indian mythology.
Akhil Akkineni and Bhagyashri Borse play the lead roles.
