The answer is everybody’s guess. Yes, numero uno director of Telugu cinema and probably Indian cinema, SS Rajamouli has won the poll (44% of the polled votes) of Best director of Tollywood this year.
His visualization and imagination had no boundaries, which made Baahubali a phenomenon in the history of Indian cinema.
Baahubali 2 not only created new records in Tollywood but went onto shatter records all over India and eventually became the first ever Indian film to gross over Rs. 1000 crore in the country.
However, Rajamouli didn’t win the poll uncontested as there are a bunch of new directors and a couple of experienced ones that have delivered surprise hits of the year.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga of Arjun Reddy stood second in the poll with over 26% of the total votes polled.
Sekhar Kammula’s Fidaa fetched him third spot while Sankalp Reddy of Ghazi and Garuda Vega’s Praveen Sattaru took fourth and fifth spots respectively.
There was so much suspense around Rajamouli’s next film after Baahubali movies. The maverick director chose to make a multistarrer as the follow up for mighty Baahubali.
It is not an easy task for anybody to live up to the hype and expectations post such iconic success, but Rajamouli is known for pulling it off under any amount of pressure.
