Some time back, Mani Ratnam was supposed to direct Ram Charan but the project got shelved after Mani Ratnam’s ‘Kadali’ tanked at the box-office.
In a way, it was an insult to Mani because everyone in India would give up everything to be part of his film and for such a director to be judged on the basis of box-office results is very embarrassing.
Anyway, coming to the point, Mani’s next film ‘Ok Bangaram’ became successful and Ram Charan once again committed to a project with Mani which was supposed to take off after his movie with Sukumar. But Mani’s recent disaster ‘Cheliya’ has once again upset the apple cart.
Ram Charan has once again backed out of the project, say industry sources. Charan was reportedly advised that since he was already playing an experimental character in Sukumar’s film, doing another project immediately with Mani would distance him from his commercial audiences.
