Interview: Bunny Movie From March

Boyapati Srinu, a director who has proven himself by giving two huge hits to Balakrishna in Simha and Legend.

Yet, his diary is not full and till the film gets on to the sets, there is no guarantee that it would happen with the hero that he plans.

Great Andhra catches up with him for a brief tete-a-tete. Here are some excerpts:

When will the next film happen?
We will start shooting from March for Bunny’s film. The news has been in media for a long time. Meanwhile, I have six months on hand, so I asked Allu Arvind if I can do a film in between. He said it was alright. So I am hoping to squeeze in something in between.

Will it be Bellamkonda’s film?
Yes. I have an awesome love story and I am planning to do the film with Bellamkonda Srinivas. And his father Suresh will be the ideal producer. I am sure if others would be willing to put in the budget I have in mind for the film. In fact, even before the release of Alludu Seenu, Suresh was keen on finalising the film and assured that he did not mind if the film’s budget exceeded the limit I quoted. But one does not anticipate bad times and after the release of Alludu Seenu, he has been facing some problems.

So, is the film stalled?
No, but he may not be putting in the budget I quoted. So, he asked me to set the story aside and look for another story. But I only go on to the sets after I have a proper story and that will take me at least six months. I don’t want my producers to suffer due to me. I told him that I will concentrate on Bunny’s film for now as I cannot come up with a new story immediately.

What was his reaction to that?
Naturally, he said he needed some time to think over.

Is the story ready for Bunny’s film?
Totally. Allu Arvind and Bunny gave the nod only after listening to the entire story.

Then, what about Balayya’s 100th film?
He did ask me. But I don’t an appropriate script with me right now. In fact, it is no mean task to do a film with Balayya after Simha and Legend. The fans’ expectations will be sky high.

Did Dammu fail due to such expectations?
Well, Dammu is NTR’s highest grosser till date. The political situation and social reasons were different. Right now, I don’t want to go into the details.

So, you now have Bunny and Balayya’s films on hand?
Bunny’s film is 100 per cent confirmed. I have to work on a story for Balayya and he has to like it….
